Q: Why should I join Sigma Sigma Rho?

A: Students who join Sigma Sigma Rho  are granted exciting leadership opportunities, the chance to make a difference in their community, and friendships that last a lifetime. Involvement in our sisterhood fosters academic excellence, student involvement on campus, community service, and life-long relationships with sisters. Our sisterhood also promotes networking, and encourages each member to maximize their potential and become a well-rounded student. The perfect blend between a a professional organization with practical value and a tight knit sisterhood for emotional value, joining our sorority is a way to complement your collegiate experience.

Q: How do I join Sigma Sigma Rho? What is the criteria to join?

A: Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Incorporated is culturally based Greek organization that is open to all undergraduate females who uphold the values and principles it encompasses. To be eligible for membership, interested students must attend their respective chapter or colony’s official Recruitment events and have a minimum cumulative 2.3 GPA. We seek prospective members that have achieved in academics as well as co-curricular activities and who have a demonstrated record of public service.

Q: What are the responsibilities for membership?

A: More than anything else, we require commitment to the principles, values and standards for which our organization was founded upon. Participation in activities such as chapter meetings, educational/leadership programs, community service events, and social activities. Members are also required to pay national dues per semester to maintain active status within the sorority.

Q: What is your hazing policy?

A: Sigma Sigma Rho has a strict no hazing policy. Hazing of any nature is against the organization’s code of conduct. Any student or chapter who hazes will face harsh punishments and possible suspension from the university they are enrolled in.

Q: My parents wish to know more about the sorority and its purpose. How should I inform them?

A: Please visit our Parent’s Information page for additional information about our organization. Discuss with them the reasons you personally want to join and why you believe this organization will benefit you. We are more than happy to answer any questions that you or they may have.

Q: How do I join Sigma Sigma Rho if there is no chapter/colony at my college?

Sigma Sigma Rho not only celebrates sisterhood amongst women of South Asian decent, but also the combined unity of sisters from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Together, all of the sisters of Sigma Sigma Rho nationwide join to form a sorority unlike any other.

Our second letter, SIGMA, represents Society.

Sigma Sigma Rho believes in the importance of cooperating with service organizations that strive for similar goals. Sigma Sigma Rho volunteers in many different ways to give back to the community. The national philanthropy is specifically aimed towards helping women affected by domestic violence.
rho Our last letter, RHO, represents Remembrance.
Sigma Sigma Rho embraces the cultural ancestries from which its members descended and strives to carry out the voices of our ancestors in society today. Sigma Sigma Rho educates its members based upon the values and traditions of South Asian culture.
